Archery Club – The Archery Club is a 4th-12th grade club that gets together weekly, after school, from January-March. All students learn how to safely use Genesis compound bows, which are used across the nation. Students are taught how to shoot the bow and arrows at archery targets from different distances. We participate in a local and state tournament at the end of the year. Through archery, students learn focus, self-control, discipline, patience, and life lessons required to be successful in the classroom and in life.

Art Club – The High School Art Club welcomes anyone with an interest in art. Students will have many opportunities to explore a variety of art mediums and techniques as well as pursue their own artistic endeavors. The art club provides a creative outlet for both self-expression and building connections with others. Students who are looking to pursue art after high school will have an opportunity to refine their portfolios for college admission.

Chess Club The Chess Club provides a space for students to learn and play chess. Any and all students are welcome; no chess experience is necessary.

Friends Club – Friends club meets after school, and is open to students grades Pk-6 as participants, and grades 7-12 as mentors. The goal is to increase social interaction. Past activities have included: partnering with older students, game club, and time with Ziggy.

Garden Club – The GCS Garden Club is available to any 4th, 5th, or 6th grader who is interested and eligible to join. We will be learning basic garden planning, indoor seed-starting, building and growing in raised beds, Health / Nutrition, and learning about various fruits, vegetables, flowers, and herbs. The club meets Wednesdays at 2:45 – 3:30 PM.

Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) Club – The GSA Club’s mission is to create a safe environment for LGBTQ individuals by reducing bullying and discrimination by providing support and education for the school community. The club meets monthly.

Health Club – The Health Club is geared towards students in grades 4-6. The goal of the Health Club is to teach students about healthy habits they can engage in outside of school. Past projects have been Seed to Plate – learning how to make healthy snacks / main dishes anyone can make, yoga, and walking groups.

History Club – History Club members share their love of history, promote historical discussion, debunk historical myths, and have fun while doing it. The club welcomes all students to attend meetings and events. Activities include lectures, field trips to historical sites, films, social events, and fundraisers.

International Club – The purpose of the International Club is to promote cultural diversity and acceptance here at Germantown. We will accomplish this by being positive role models to the student body, participating in community service activities, and hosting or participating in functions that encourage diversity within our school and community.

Jr. Drama Club – The Jr. Drama Club is available for students in grades 5-8. We begin auditions the week after school starts in September and begin rehearsing for the performance after school until 4:00 three days a week. Our musical is performed the weekend before Thanksgiving and our cast continues to meet weekly after that to learn about the many facets of theater- improv, scene development, costume design, lighting and tech, and audience etiquette. Students not in the musical can come and join us every Thursday after the musical is over from 3:00-3:45.

Jr./Sr. High Drama Club – The jr./sr. High drama club is an opportunity for students in the seventh through twelfth grades to participate in theatrical productions and to learn more about the theater. In the fall of each year, seventh and eighth graders can audition for the junior drama musical production, and high school students can be part of the tech crew or stage crew for that show. Each spring, the drama club presents a full-scale musical, for which any seventh through twelfth-grade student can audition to perform on stage or be part of the tech crew or stage crew. Strong instrumental students can also audition to perform in the pit orchestra for the spring production. Outside of the two mainstage productions, the drama club may hold workshops on various theatrical topics, bring guest artists in to work with students, take trips to see interesting theatrical events (including our annual Broadway field trip in late April), and present other types of performances. Anyone who wants to join is more than welcome to do so, and any questions can be directed to Mr. Galliher (Drama Club Advisor).

National Honor Society -The Germantown Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) shares the purpose and goals of the national organization, which are to recognize our country’s outstanding students. The NHS seeks to honor more than just academic success; it encourages and honors good character, as well as excellence in the areas of leadership and service. Founded in 1921, the organization has an estimated one million student members across 50 states. Our chapter is guided by the principles of the NHS constitution: “To create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.” NHS members are visible examples of these principles in our school, and they participate in a number of service opportunities throughout the school year.

National Junior Honor Society – The purpose of NJHS is to promote the recognition of students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, citizenship, and service.

Wee Deliver Post Office Elementary – Wee Deliver postal system for students K-6. Students can write and “mail” letters to other students or staff members. Students sort the mail and deliver it weekly.

Mission statement: empowers and mobilizes students and adult allies to engage in positive change through leadership and smart decision-making. Goals: To develop and implement positive healthy experiences for students to discover and embrace rather then engage in destructive behaviors.

Student Council – The purpose of the Student Council is to provide a valuable leadership partnership between students and their school. It creates the opportunity for students to become effective leaders, thus encouraging and influencing a positive school climate.
