NJHS/Red Cross Blood Drive This Saturday!

Posted Date: 10/24/24 (11:51 AM)

There is an NJHS sponsored blood drive right here at the school this Saturday, October 26, 2024, 8:30am-12:30pm!

Visit www.redcrossblood.org, and use the sponsor code to schedule your preferred time in advance: germantown OR simply email me back!

Walk-in’s may be allowed as permitted by the on-site American Red Cross Manager.

Incentives: SAVE LIVES! Give blood through the American Red Cross in October and they’ll say thanks with a $10 Amazon.com Gift Card* by email! Plus, automatically be entered for a chance to win a $5,000 gift card; terms apply: rcblood.org/treat.  For our drive this Saturday, a t-shirt will be given to donors as well (supply and sizes may be limited)! And, if we meet our donor goal, the NJHS can earn money for all the amazing events we sponsor!

We are so close to meeting the goal of 44 appointments scheduled…we currently have 11 whole blood and 3 power red appointments remaining. Please think about signing up!

Where else can you get a mini physical for free (blood pressure, pulse, hemoglobin, temperature), while doing something great to save up to 3 lives with your whole blood donation and 6 lives with your Power Red donation?  New changes will be happening soon, (if not already implemented for this Saturday’s blood drive), with FDA-approved devices for improved health screenings announced in September: no more finger sticks or manual readings for temperature, blood pressure and pulse!

Create an account to easily schedule future appointments, manage existing appointments, see your blood type, view results of your mini-physical, and track donation history.

Once you have scheduled your donor appointment, you will receive an email directly from the American Red Cross confirming your upcoming donation appointment.  Reminders will be sent to you directly from the American Red Cross Blood Services, to include a link for Rapid Pass the day of your scheduled donation.

You don’t need a special reason to give blood; you just need your own reason.  Whatever your reason, the need is constant and your contribution is important for a healthy and reliable blood supply.  You will feel good knowing that you have changed someone’s life.

About every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood and every 15 seconds for a platelet donation – that’s why WE NEED YOU!  If you cannot attend this Saturday, you can donate in your local area by visiting https://www.redcrossblood.org/

  • 1 Whole Blood Donor = 1 Unit; 1 Unit = 3 lives saved
  • 1 Power Red Donor = 2 Units, = 6 lives saved

Often, generous people make their first blood donation after a tragedy or natural disaster occurs. But it’s the blood already on the shelves that is used during an emergency. Watch this brief video to understand why it’s vital to keep a steady blood supply at all times.
