Farm to Table program at GCS

Posted Date: 10/18/24 (11:49 AM)

Microgreens grown by the students in the Farm to Table program for lunch today. Alfalfa, radish, broccoli, and clover microgreens were provided to the cafeteria to add to our regular Friday fresh salads.
Microgreens are a "superfood" said Lisa McGovern the School Lunch Director.
In general microgreens have more minerals and micronutrients than fully grown plants. Even small amounts of microgreens may have the same nutritional value as the larger fully-grown plants. We are so grateful to the students for supplying the cafeteria with this opportunity to feed fresh grown microgreens to all the students that would like to have a school lunch. Reminder that the school lunch at Germantown is free to all students that would like one.
